Cal Poly is proud to present the current group of student teachers. These young men and women are required to complete a full semester of student teaching in California high schools. Each of them will be eligible for two credentials in the State of California upon completion of requirements: Single Subject in Agriculture and the Agriculture Specialist.

The high schools serving as cooperating sites for this group include the following schools: Bakersfield HS, Buhach Colony HS - Atwater, Foothill HS - Bakersfield, Hanford HS, LeGrand HS, North Salinas Pioneer Valley HS - Santa Maria, Pitman HS - Turlock, Righetti HS - Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo HS, Santa Maria HS, and Shandon HS.

Mandi Bartleson
B.S. in Agricultural Science, concentration in Animal Science, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Masters Degree in progress.  Five years experience in developing and facilitating high-energy, activity based classroom presentations.  Focused interest and experience in ornamental horticulture, floral design, agriscience, leadership, and animal science.  Strong FFA background and ready to help students capitalize their potential in the classroom and organization.

Jenna Eyraud
B.S. in Agriculture Education, California State University, Chico.  Masters Degree in progress, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  AA in Animal Science, Bakersfield College.  Major interest in floriculture, plant science, and leadership development/FFA.  Other interests are Ag. mechanics and Ag. biology.  An enthusiastic leader who believes that all students have the ability to succeed with proper motivation. 

Joey Martin
B.S. in Dairy Science, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Masters Degree in Agricultural Science in progress.  Major interests include Ag. mechanics, animal science, livestock, and leadership development.  Excited about helping students improve and achieve success through agricultural education and the FFA.

Bonnie McKee
B.S. in Agriculture Science; integrated animal systems, California State University, Chico.  Minor in Agriculture Business.  Masters Degree in progress, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Major interest in dairy science and floral/ornamental horticulture.  Practical experience in dairy science and small engines.  Strong supporter of agriculture educations tripartite; FFA, SAE, and classroom instruction.  Strong FFA and leadership background.  Self motivated and enjoyable to work with.

Heather Nursement
B.S. in Agricultural Business, concentration in marketing, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Masters Degree in progress.  Industry experience in production agriculture and animal science.  Major interests in agricultural sciences; animal science, Ag. science, ornamental horticulture, biology, Ag. business, and leadership.  Strong FFA, agriculture, and leadership background.  Enthusiastic about student achievement and growth through agricultural education and leadership.

Casey Penfold
B.S. in Agricultural Science, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Masters Degree in progress.  Major interest in Ag. mechanics, welding, and machining.  Experience in the mechanics industry and a passion for showing livestock.  Dedicated to student success through FFA, SAE, and quality education in the classroom.

Stephanie Pfarr
 B.S. in Animal Science, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Masters Degree in progress.  Passion and background in animal science, horticulture, crop science, leadership, agribusiness, and Ag. mechanics.  Enjoys working with and helping students learn about the importance of agriculture in their daily lives and their future.  Believes all students should have an equal opportunity to learn and grow as individuals.

Gabe Ponce
B.S. in Agricultural Science, concentration in Animal Science, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Masters Degree in progress.  Major interests in leadership development, animal science, biology, career development events, and an array of other personal skills.  Has a desire for students success, a passion for teaching, and a strong background in FFA including American Degree, State Champion Judging Team, and a state FFA officer.  

Tim Reid
 B.S. in Agricultural Business, minor in Agricultural Science, California State University, Chico.  Masters Degree in progress, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Industry experience in the produce, cattle, and horse industries.  Special interest in Ag. mechanics, Ag. business, animal science, and leadership training.  Enjoys vocational portion of Agriculture Education through CDE events, especially judging teams.  Very enthusiastic and ready to work hard and help students succeed.

Jamie Sakugawa
 B.S. in Animal Science, concentration in Agricultural Business, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Masters Degree in progress.  Major interest and practical experience in animal science, Ag. science, Ag. biology, and Ag. business.  Other interests include Ag. welding and floriculture.  Extremely enthusiastic about helping students learn and grow through agricultural education and involvement in the FFA.  Strong passion for teaching and helping all students realize and achieve their full academic potential.

Megan Silva
 B.S. in Agricultural Science, with a concentration in Animal Science, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Masters Degree in progress.  Special interests in animal and agriculture production, all aspects of horticulture, and leadership development.  Strong passion for teaching and helping today’s youth become strong leaders of tomorrow.  Believes in setting high expectations and in helping students achieve academic success through agricultural education.

Tanya Salo
B.S. in Agriculture Science, concentration in Animal Science, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Masters degree in progress.  Enthusiastic interest in horticulture, dairy science, animal science, Ag. business, and FFA leadership.  Managed a Family Entertainment Center for six years.  Believes in strengthening agriculture education, and most importantly, student success.

 

Spring 2008

Amber Hallsten
B.S. in Agricultural Science with a concentration in Animal Science.  Masters degree in Ag. Education in progress.  Major interests and experience in; animal science, biology, agricultural mechanics, horse judging, public speaking, and has a strong belief in the FFA.  Enjoys motivating students to get involved, advancing their leadership skills, and inspiring student to reach their full potential.  Loves to teach and strives to build relationships with the community and students. 

Hector Jimenez
B.S. in Agriculture Education, California State University, Fresno.  Masters degree in progress.  Major interests in Ag. Science, Ag Leadership, and Ag. Mechanics.  Strong FFA background including American Degree and participating on two state champion judging teams.  Enjoys working with students to help them achieve their full potential. 

Megan Schmitt
B.S. in Ag. Science, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Concentration in Ornamental Horticulture and interests in plant science.  An abundance of knowledge in the horticulture industry.  A dependable, outgoing individual with an excitement for FFA and student involvement.  A great communicator and team player. 

Robin Schroeder
B.S. in Ag. Science with a concentration in Animal Science, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Masters degree in progress.  Major interests include Ag. Mechanics, Animal Science, and Ag. Science.  Very passionate about the FFA and leadership development among students.  Very enthusiastic about helping students become successful in their lives.

Erin Thompson
B.S. in Animal Science, Texas Tech University.  Masters degree in progress, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  A.S. in Animals Science, Modesto Junior College.  Major interests in Ag. Biology and Animal Science.  Excited to see student succeed in all aspects of life while pursuing greater knowledge in agriculture.  “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
